Job Summary:
The Manager of ACCESS Accessibility and Course Support oversees the development and administration of Instructional Technology Assistants, Course Development personnel, and Subject Matter Experts in the areas of accessibility, course maintenance, and course support. Communicates and maintains the policies and procedures based on data monitoring and evaluation to inform accessibility, course support, and course maintenance. Completes accessibility audits and oversees the implementation of accessibility remediation of all courses within LMS, including content, discussions, assignments, and tests/quizzes using internally developed processes in collaboration with other course development staff.
Additional Department Summary:
Manages the ITAs and other course development staff during and through the development and remediation of complex online courses in areas of course accessibility, support, and maintenance. Oversees the development and administration of professional development programs, workshops, materials, and resources, identified through the use of data, to prepare ACCESS ITAs, IDs, and SMEs for success in areas of accessibility, course support, and course maintenance.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of instructional design, interactive technology, or technical support experience; OR master’s degree and four (4) years of instructional design, interactive technology, or technical support experience.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:
Must clear the fingerprint/background check required by the Alabama State Department of Education for work with the ACCESS Virtual Learning Initiative.
Skills and Knowledge:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to understand, implement, and train others in the production of accessible online course materials. Knowledge of WCAG 2.1AA standards. Experience with Articulate 360, Camtasia, and captioning tools. Experience with online course support ticketing systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Direct experience in K-12 programs delivered by technology and experience working with state departments of education. Demonstrated experience in distance learning technology in higher education or K-12 environments with knowledge of learning management systems Schoology preferred.
