Manager, Compensation Administration

Ready to take the next step in your career? We'd love to learn more about you. Apply today to become a key player in Michigan Medicine's HR leadership team and help shape the future of compensation at an organization that truly makes a difference in the world.

Are you a seasoned compensation leader looking to make a meaningful impact in healthcare? Michigan Medicine is seeking a Manager of Compensation Administration to lead our compensation team and drive innovative pay programs that support our mission "to advance health to serve Michigan and the world." This is a high-impact role for a forward-thinking expert who wants to shape compensation strategy at one of the nation's top academic medical centers.

As the Manager of Compensation Administration, you will lead a team of talented compensation analysts & consultants in designing and implementing competitive, contemporary compensation practices. From crafting job architecture frameworks and salary structures to developing incentive plans that reward excellence, you'll ensure our pay programs are both equitable and cutting-edge. You'll use data-driven insights to inform decisions and will work closely with leaders across Michigan Medicine - advising HR colleagues, executives and managers on compensation strategies that attract, retain, and motivate the people who drive our patient care, research, and education excellence.

If you're a compensation expert who thrives on collaboration, innovation, and making a real difference, we encourage you to apply. Join us at Michigan Medicine and lead compensation strategies that help us attract and reward the talent driving exceptional healthcare for our communities.

In this role, leadership and collaboration are key. You will mentor and develop a high-performing team, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement. You'll manage cross-functional projects with partners in HR and other departments, taking the lead on compensation initiatives that span our large, complex organization. Your ability to influence strategic decision-making will be valued as you serve as a trusted compensation advisor to leadership. Importantly, you'll be joining a community that truly lives its core values of caring, innovation, integrity, inclusion, and teamwork. At Michigan Medicine, these values aren't just words - they guide everything we do and create a supportive, inclusive workplace where every team member can thrive.

Who are we looking for? An experienced compensation leader who is passionate about both the science and art of compensation. You should bring extensive experience (around 8+ years) in designing and administering compensation programs, including expertise in job architecture, salary structure design, and incentive/bonus plans. You're adept at using data and analytics to drive decisions, and you stay current on market trends and best practices. You have proven success in leading teams - you love coaching others and watching your team succeed. Project management comes naturally to you, and you're comfortable juggling strategic projects and day-to-day operations in a dynamic environment. Equally important, you excel at building relationships and communicating complex ideas clearly, whether you're training managers or presenting a proposal to senior leadership. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required (a Master's degree and professional compensation certification - CCP - are a plus). If you have experience in healthcare or academic settings, that's beneficial, but not mandatory.
