Job Summary
The Manager of Equal Opportunity & Accessibility is responsible for the operational administration of Georgia Tech's employee accommodation programs and equal employment opportunity compliance initiatives. This position manages the day-to-day processes related to disability, religious, and pregnancy accommodations for faculty and staff, including facilitating the interactive process, reviewing documentation, and coordinating implementation of approved accommodations.
The Manager serves as a primary resource to faculty, staff, and administrators regarding reasonable accommodations and accessible employment practices and provides guidance on compliance with applicable federal and state laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title VII, and the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act. The position supports institutional efforts to ensure nondiscriminatory hiring and employment practices and assists in developing training, outreach, and reporting related to accommodation and equal employment opportunity compliance.
The Manager reports to the Director of ADA Compliance, Equal Opportunity & Accommodations and supports the implementation of Institute policies, compliance initiatives, and program improvements related to accessibility and equal employment opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Job Duty 1 - Manage the accommodations process, including intake, evaluation, documentation review, and implementation of accommodations. Ensuring adherence to ADA, Title VII, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, and other relevant laws and regulations.
- Job Duty 2 - Provide guidance to hiring managers on implementing legally compliant hiring practices and ensure that job postings, application processes, and hiring assessments are accessible and barrier-free for individuals with disabilities and other protected groups.
- Job Duty 3 - Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for faculty, staff, and administrators on accommodation-related matters. Providing guidance to leadership on best practices in implementing reasonable accommodations; collaborating with other relevant units and stakeholders as needed.
- Job Duty 4 - Stay abreast of federal, state, and local regulations, laws, and guidelines related to disability, religious, and pregnancy accommodations. Ensure that accommodation processes and practices align with legal requirements and university policies. Conduct investigations as needed.
- Job Duty 5 - Participate in outreach activities to promote understanding of disability, religious, and pregnancy accommodations and reduce stigma and potential discrimination.
- Job Duty 6 - Assist in overseeing case management and maintain accurate, confidential records of accommodation requests and outcomes. Utilize case management systems and reporting tools to track trends and ensure timely processing.
- Job Duty 7 - Design and conduct training sessions for managers, HR personnel, and employees on accommodation procedures, legal requirements, and best practices. Assist in the development and delivery of training programs for HR, hiring managers, and search committees on nondiscriminatory hiring practices and accessibility in recruitment.
- Job Duty 8 - Assess trends and make recommendations to improve policies and processes. Develop metrics and reports to evaluate the effectiveness of the accommodation program.
- Job Duty 9 - Lead projects and implementation of strategic compliance of non-discrimination in employment initiatives, including, but not limited to, annual updates to Georgia Tech's Non-discrimination in Employment Plans, ensuring compliance with federal laws and regulations.
- Job Duty 10 - Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
