Be Bold. Belong. Be More.

At Southern Cross University, we do things differently, and so can you.

A career with us is more than you might expect. Yes, it’s about the heart, connectedness and community you’d hope for in a regional university. But there’s also so much more. Our game changing Southern Cross Model brings a deeper, focused learning experience and our research is deeply connected to our regions, making a difference on a global scale. This is your chance to help us build something new and meaningful for our students, our communities and your career. To drive change, make a real impact, and thrive in a place as unique as you.

You can be good anywhere. Here, you can be great.

Your opportunity

As our Manager, Timetabling within Student Administration Services, you will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the University’s central timetabling function, supporting core teaching, learning and assessment activities across Southern Cross University.

Working at the intersection of academic delivery, technology and space planning, you will optimise how teaching activities are scheduled across our campuses and digital learning environments. This highly visible role will play a critical part in ensuring our timetabling systems, policies and processes support the unique delivery of the Southern Cross Model, while improving operational efficiency and enhancing the student experience.

You will lead the transformation and uplift of the University’s timetabling systems, processes and governance frameworks. Partnering closely with academic leaders, Technology Services and Facilities Management, you will ensure our timetabling capability is technically robust, operationally efficient and strategically aligned to the institutional priorities.

You will lead a specialist team based in Lismore, engage directly with the system vendor to enhance functionality, and drive continuous improvement across timetabling systems, parameters, processes and planning frameworks.

You will make an impact by:

  • Leading the strategic and operational delivery of the University’s central timetabling function, ensuring compliance with academic timelines, governance, policy and operational requirements
  • Developing and implementing a strategic roadmap to uplift timetabling systems, processes and planning capability across the University
  • Optimising the use of teaching spaces and timetabling systems to support efficient, student-focused teaching delivery
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to academic and professional staff on timetabling strategy, scheduling and planning
  • Driving continuous improvement across timetabling processes, systems and policies to enhance operational efficiency and the student experience
  • Building strong partnerships with faculties, Technology Services and Facilities Management to support effective planning and system integration

What you will bring

You are a collaborative and solutions-focused operational leader who enjoys working in complex environments and solving challenging scheduling and planning problems. With strong technical capability and diplomatic stakeholder engagement skills, you are able to translate complex operational requirements into practical solutions that support both organisational outcomes and the student experience.

To succeed in this role, you will also need:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and/or significant experience in student administration, timetabling or complex operational scheduling environments
  • Demonstrated expertise in timetabling or scheduling systems such as Syllabus Plus, TimeEdit or similar platforms
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with the ability to manage complex operational requirements and competing priorities, while incorporating operational improvement, system uplift or change initiatives
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to develop and support a small team delivering high-quality services
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders across academic and professional areas

It’s not essential, but we’d love it if you had experience working in a higher education environment or within complex service delivery organisations where scheduling, operational planning and stakeholder engagement are critical to success. If you don’t have this experience but believe your skills are transferable, we still encourage you to apply.
