Job Description:
Summary:
The Marketing and Communication Student Assistant will support the
Kogod School of Business's Marketing and Communication team in
various tasks and projects aimed at enhancing the visibility and
reputation of the school. This role is an excellent opportunity for
a student interested in gaining hands-on experience in marketing,
communications, and public relations within an academic
environment.
Essential Functions:
- Content Creation: Assist in developing and editing content for
various communication channels, including social media,
newsletters, and the Kogod website.
Social Media Management: Support the management of Kogod’s
social media accounts by scheduling posts, engaging with followers,
and monitoring analytics.
Event Support: Help organize and promote events such as
webinars, workshops, and networking functions. Assist with
logistical arrangements and event setup.
Research and Analysis: Conduct research on marketing trends,
competitor activities, and best practices. Assist in analyzing
marketing campaign performance.
Administrative Tasks: Provide general administrative support to
the Marketing and Communication team, including maintaining
records, preparing reports, and coordinating meetings.
Graphic Design: Assist in creating visually appealing materials
using design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) for
promotional and marketing purposes.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- Part-time.
- 15 hours per week.
Salary Range:
Required Education and Experience:
- Current Enrollment: Must be a current student at American
University, preferably majoring in Marketing, Communication,
Business, or a related field.
- Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills,
proficiency in social media platforms, basic knowledge of graphic
design principles, and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
(Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience: An interest in digital marketing and content
creation is essential.
- Attributes: Creative, organized, detail-oriented, and able to
work independently and as part of a team. Must have a positive
attitude and be willing to learn.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Previous experience in marketing, communications, or related
fields is a plus but not required.
