"Part-time Physics Faculty"

About this position

Southern Wesleyan University's School of Science, Technology, and Mathematics is seeking to hire adjunct faculty for the 2023-2024 academic year to teach courses in Physics with Calculus I and II. See below for additional details.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Teach Physics with Calculus I and II face-to-face or hybrid (with weekly synchronous office hours and at least one synchronous lecture/discussion session per week).
2. Collaborate with the program coordinator and other adjunct faculty in the program.
3. Optional opportunities to develop and update the Physics course periodically for additional pay.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

1. Academic. A master's degree or earned a doctorate in Physics, Engineering, or a related area with at least 18 graduate credits in Physics. Preference will be given to applicants with previous college teaching experience. Desire and/or experience integrating the Christian faith with the teaching and practice of Engineering discipline are essential.
2. Mission and Lifestyle Expectations. The university is a Christian liberal arts institution in the Wesleyan-Holiness theological tradition. 3. Technology. SWU is committed to maximizing the use of technology in its daily operations and achieving its strategic goals. The ideal candidate will be comfortable and familiar with the use of technology within the academic environment, including distance learning and learning management systems, web-based, and PC applications, including all Microsoft Office 365 applications.
4. Pre-employment Screening. Employment is contingent on the completion of a criminal background screening.
