Salary Range: Up to $61,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Summary
The Mechanical Maintenance Technician Ill provides master-level skills in the operation and maintenance of HVAC, boiler, and mechanical equipment and related systems. This role provides supervision on job-specific tasks. The position coordinates work with the end user and other trade personnel. The level Ill role is responsible for using power and hand tools to construct, maintain, and repair structures, equipment, and various materials used on campus.
Core Responsibilities
- Provides advanced skills to perform and supervise the installation, removal, repair, maintenance, preventive maintenance, fabrication, and emergency repair of HVAC, boiler, and industrial mechanical equipment and related systems.
- Performs service calls and work orders submitted by students, faculty, staff, and departments within the university, including preventive maintenance. Responds promptly to customer service needs and requests, with proper documentation of repairs and services.
- Keeps records of material used.
- Supports all trades, departments, and zones with special events and provides assistance as needed.
- Assists, consults, and inspects outside contractors regarding HVAC and mechanical equipment and systems. remodel, repair, or replacement of equipment.
- Tests, monitors, troubleshoots technically, adjusts, and repairs systems and equipment.
- Supervises and provides technical skills and oversight to Mechanical Maintenance Technician I and II.
- Collaborates with the immediate supervisor to resolve more complex issues.
- Size pumps and fans according to system parameters and pump/fan curves.
- Completes work on kitchen equipment as required. Works on energized systems, including piping that contains steam, hot water, and chilled water.
- Uses precision tools to accurately set belts, chains, couplings, bearings, and other drive parts.
- Inspects completed work to ensure compliance with specifications, operation manuals, requirements, and applicable codes and regulations.
- Performs work following established safety procedures.
- Serves in an on-call night maintenance capacity to support after-hours and weekend operational needs.
- Assists with the design and construction of HVAC, mechanical equipment, and systems, including renovation and new construction projects.
- Keeps up with changes in operational procedures, new equipment, and other related tools. Works collaboratively with other trades and staff members to support daily tasks; informs the appropriate personnel of unusual conditions, problems, or deficiencies, and takes appropriate actions.
- Operates, repairs, and troubleshoots issues with R.O. systems, steam systems, closed-loop systems, and other mechanical equipment.
- Performs additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, Vocational Training, or Apprenticeship in a related field.
- Five (5) years of related work experience.
+ Additional education may substitute for experience on a one year for one year basis. - Must have an EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification upon employment.
- Valid Texas Driver's License.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.

Working Conditions
- Exposure to variable Texas weather conditions and/or physical hazards such as working in elevated and confined spaces; working in attics, sub-floors, machine rooms, on roofs, and other operational areas. Also exposed to various mechanical, electrical, laboratory, and other university spaces. Assisting other trades to meet the operational needs of the university.
Physical Demands
- Ability to push, pull, or lift 50 pounds of equipment with or without reasonable accommodations.
This position will work primarily on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
