Job Description:
Summary:
The American University Career Center is seeking a Marketing &
Communications Student Assistant to support the office's marketing,
communications, and promotional efforts. This position provides
hands-on experience in marketing operations, event promotion, brand
management, and student engagement while supporting a wide range of
AU Career Center initiatives. The ideal candidate is organized,
dependable, detail-oriented, and enjoys working in a collaborative,
fast-paced environment.
Essential Functions:
- Assist with marketing campaigns and the promotion of AU Career
Center programs, events, and services.
Support special projects and administrative communications as
assigned.
Prepare, print, cut, laminate, and assemble promotional
materials, including flyers, posters, table signage, and other
marketing collateral.
Assist with the distribution and display of promotional
materials across campus.
Support event branding, venue setup for AU Career Center
programs, workshops, employer events, and career fairs.
Organize promotional giveaways (swag) and assist with inventory
management.
Prepare promotional materials for the AU Career Center front
desk, information tables, and outreach events.
Photograph AU Career Center events as needed and activities to
support future marketing and communications efforts.
Track media coverage, promotional placements, and the AU Career
Center's online presence.
Assist with other marketing and communications projects as
needed.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- Part-time.
- 7 hours per week.
Salary Range:
Required Education and Experience:
- The incumbent must be a current or enrolled AU student.
- Federal Work-Study (FWS) eligibility is required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking
abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple priorities
in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing
high-quality work.
- Ability to lift and transport promotional materials and assist
with event setup when needed.
- Candidates must be available to begin working during the first
week of the Fall 2026 semester.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Interest in marketing, communications, public relations, event
management.
- Experience with Canva, Microsoft Office, or Google
Workspace.
- Basic photography and social media experience is a plus.
- Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and contribute to a
collaborative team environment.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
- Applications will be accepted until the position is filled or

first.
- This position is for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027, with a strong
possibility of renewing for future semesters.
- Students who hold a FWS award are highly encouraged to
apply.
- This position may be a mix of in-office and remote work.
