Join a small and passionate team producing a wide range of video and photography content for New Zealand’s largest university. We are seeking a versatile Media Technician who is skilled across equipment management, studio support, live streaming and post production workflows to help deliver high-quality media content during a four month parental leave period. This role is hands-on, varied and essential in ensuring our production environments, equipment and technical operations remain reliable and ready to support the diverse stories we help to tell.
We produce a broad portfolio of work, including social media content, teaching and learning resources, bespoke videos, lectures and studio webinars. You will support both studio and field shoots and contribute to the smooth running of our media tech room, equipment and edit suites.
This is a full-time (37.5hours/ week), fixed-term (4-month) position, with a salary range of $78,000 - $88,000 per annum (prorated) based on skills and experience. Occasional evening work may be required and this is shared across the team. Flexible working, including sliding hours, is also available.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills
- Ingest, organise and manage media using ShotPut Pro or Hedge, including editing and saving files on remote servers, and support basic editing in Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Maintain and troubleshoot equipment, computers and edit suites, ensuring our systems and gear run smoothly and supporting independent work when required.
- Set up, operate and support video and photography equipment for both studio and location shoots, including multi‑camera productions using Blackmagic and ATEM Software Control.
- Operate livestream systems, complete pre‑flight checks and manage reliable outgoing streams.

You are warm, reliable and people-focused, with a flexible and organised approach to work. Each day will look a little different, so you will feel comfortable shifting between projects and responding to evolving production needs.
You will bring:
- Experience in video production, content management and production equipment.
- Technical knowledge of multi-camera studio workflows and camera operation.
- Familiarity with editing workflows, remote servers and post-production environments.
- Experience with livestreaming and managing outgoing streams.
- Strong initiative, attention to detail and a willingness to pitch in across the team.
Training and support will be provided, including livestream systems and studio technology. A hands‑on, can‑do attitude and willingness to try new things are essential.
