Medical Laboratory Scientist, Adjunct
Job Description
The faculty member will be expected to teach undergraduate student courses, including some combination of the following: Clinical Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Clinical Immunology, and Clinical Microbiology, Blood-bank, Urinalysis, and Laboratory Management.
The successful applicant will be annually evaluated for the following: ability to teach effectively, continued preparation and study in discipline, contribution to student growth and developments, and service to the university and community.
Compensation is per credit, the current credit rate is a minimum of $1844 per credit.
This adjunct position will remain open for 1 year to allow departments’ access to candidate pools when there is a need to hire an adjunct to teach a course(s) during defined academic semester(s).
Minimum Qualifications
- B. S. in Medical Laboratory Science, Biology or related discipline with other special preparation and experience or M.S. in Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, or related discipline
- Current, nationally recognized, generalist certification in MedicalLaboratory Science/Medical Technology/Clinical LaboratoryScience
- Minimum of 3 years of MLS work experience in a hospital setting
- Minimum of 1 years of experience in MLS or MLT training/teaching
- Evidence of demonstrated ability to teach and work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds
Preferred Qualification
- PhD in Medical Laboratory Science, Biology or related discipline
- Evidence of recent (within 5 years) employment as a Medical Laboratory Scientist
- Minimum of 3 years teaching/training experience in an MLS or MLT program.
- Evidence of recent (within 5 years) training/teaching as a Medical Laboratory Scientist
- Evidence of scholarship through research and publication
- Experience mentoring students including underrepresented groups in STEM fields
