"Forensic Science Lab Manager"

Alabama State University, College of Science, Mathematics and Technology, invites application for the position of Lab Manager. The selected applicant will be responsible for research and instructional laboratory preparation, stockroom upkeep, ordering and inventory, waste and safety records, and routine equipment maintenance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare instructional laboratories each week and coordinate daily activities in the forensic laboratory
• Inventory supplies and equipment
• Maintain and inventory chemical stockrooms and gas supplies
• Order supplies, manage invoices and receipts and maintain good relationships with vendors
• Oversee storage of hazardous waste and annual removal
• Maintain safety records and material safety data records
• Provide routine maintenance of instruments and oversee maintenance and repairs performed by third parties
• Provide support for faculty and students in the department
• Train research students and teaching assistants in laboratory techniques
• Maintain awareness and compliance of laboratories with federal, state and local regulations and perform other duties as assigned.

A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology or Forensic Science, and 2 years of experience as a Laboratory Manager at the college/university level or, a Master's degree in the Sciences are required.
