Men's Basketball Athletic Training Fellow
Position Summary:
This is an eleven month temporary appointment
Serve as the Men’s Basketball Athletic Training Fellow within the Department of Sports Medicine and Campus Health Services. The position is responsible for assisting with the care of student-athletes, including prevention, treatment, management, and rehabilitation of the injured student-athletes under the supervision of the team physician for assigned sport(s), the certified athletic trainer responsible for sport oversight, and the associate director of Sports Medicine. Sport assignment(s) include men’s basketball and M&W Swimming and Diving but may be modified at the discretion of the Sports Medicine administrative personnel.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent educational or instructional activities associated with the delivery and/or management of student support functions, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and at least 1 year of relevant experience in substitution.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:
- Degree from a CAATE (Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education) accredited ATP (Athletic Training Program).
- Certification by the NATA (National Athletic Trainers’ Association) Board of Certification (BOC).
- Current Cardiac certification by the American Heart Association or Professional Rescuer Certification by the American Red Cross.
- Current or eligible for licensure by the North Carolina Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners.
- Follow the NATA Code of Ethics.
- Remain current on all state and national requirements for certification and licensure.
- Agree to comply with University, ACC, NCAA bylaws, legislation, and mandates along with all regulatory agency statues.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:
- Between 1-2 years of experience in either professional or collegiate athletics
- Experience working with Division 1 athletic program
- Computer competency (e.g., proficiency with Office 365 applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Special Physical/Mental Requirements :
Must be able to move 30-60 pounds occasionally with or without a reasonable accommodation.
