Position Description 

The Department of Anthropology at Harvard University seeks to appoint a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Political and/or Economic Anthropology. The tenure-track Assistant Professor will be expected to teach a range of offerings, from introductory undergraduate lecture courses to graduate seminars.

The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2025.

Basic Qualifications 

Ph.D. required by expected start date.

Additional Qualifications 

Demonstrated strong commitment to teaching and advising is desired.

· teaching/advising statement (describing your philosophy and practices as well as your approach to creating a learning environment in which students are encouraged to ask questions and share their ideas)

· service statement (describing your efforts to strengthen academic communities, e.g., your department, institution, and/or professional societies.)

Candidates are also required to submit names and contact information of 3-5 referees, who will be asked by a system-generated email to upload a letter of recommendation on behalf of long-listed candidates. Three letters of recommendation are required for further consideration at that time. At least one letter must come from someone who has not served as the candidate’s primary undergraduate, graduate, or postdoctoral advisor. Applications are due Sept. 29, 2024.
