The research includes (but is not limited to) identifying the causes of internal delamination (cracking), and developing computational and analytical models for predicting the structural response and proposing mitigating strategies. Physical testing of curved concrete segments may also be undertaken, subject to availability of funding.

The scholarship is provided by the UNSW Nuclear Innovation Centre and is valued at $40,000 per annum for 3.5 years.

The candidate profile should include:

• Strong background in structural engineering, particularly in concrete structures
• Experience in computational (finite element) modelling, with good programming skills (MATLAB, Python, or similar).
• Excellent communication and analytical skills.
• Passion for interdisciplinary research and collaboration.
• International candidates should have a Bachelor's and a Master’s degree from reputable institution, with excellent academic standing.
