POSITION: MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR 2 (SHUTTLE DRIVER)

SALARY RANGE: O09 $37,334.25 - $53,572.65

LOCATION: PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENT

JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of a supervisor in a state department, institution, or agency, during an assigned tour of duty will transport passengers safely and efficiently to and from designated locations. drive the shuttle bus during the assigned shift, provides assistance and protection to persons and property in and about state-owned and leased buildings, office grounds, and parking areas; maintains orderly conditions, and takes the measures required to assure observance of the law; does related work as required. Must have a clean driving record.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate the shuttle bus in a safe manner, adhering to all traffic rules and regulations.
• Transport passengers to and from designated locations.
• Ability to maintain professional courtesy when driving.
• Provides assistance and protection to persons and property in and about state-owned and leased buildings, office grounds, and parking areas.
• Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of experience in driving passenger automobile, van or light trucks.

REQUIREMENTS: Availability for shift rotation, (7 days week: 7 am - 3pm, & 3pm - 11 pm) holidays, weekends and inclement weather assignment.

Must have possession of a valid New Jersey Driver’s license and a CDL Class C or higher - New Jersey commercial driver license with Clean Motor Vehicle Record

Passenger Endorsement (P). Drivers who wish to drive a vehicle having a design capacity to carry 16 or more people, including the driver, must add a passenger endorsement to their CDL/CLP. They must pass a special knowledge examination on safety considerations when transporting passengers and must pass skills tests in a passenger vehicle. The endorsement applies to applicants who wish to drive a bus in any class (A, B, or C).

CDL bus drivers in New Jersey are subject to drug and alcohol testing requirements, including random testing, post-accident testing, and reasonable suspicion testing

This is a provisional appointment pending a state test.

EDUCATION: Graduation from high school or vocational school or possession of an approved high school equivalent certificate.
