in Musical Theatre that align with the instructor's strengths. These positions are full-time one-year appointments, each with a 3/3 teaching load (fall and spring semesters) at our NYC campus.
This is a fixed-term, non-tenure track appointment. Northeastern University will not provide H-1B, TN, O-1, E-3, or any other type of employment visa sponsorship for the successful applicant to this position, now or in the future. The successful applicant must be able to maintain valid work authorization in the United States throughout the entire appointment without Northeastern University's sponsorship for a visa.
Required Qualifications:
- PhD or MFA in Acting, Musical Theatre, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Record of successful leadership in academic or professional theatre.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other members of the Theatre faculty to advance the department's pledge to develop and implement recruitment strategies, curriculum, pedagogy, and theatre production practices that are equitable and inclusive.
- Professional acting and/or directing experience.
- Full-time or part-time teaching experience at the college level.
- Knowledge of diverse voices in musical theatre, including emerging artists.
- Strong organizational and collaborative skills.
- A commitment to pre-professional theatre training in higher education.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching responsibilities include different levels of acting through song courses offered in the Musical Theatre curriculum.
- Directing department productions, as needed.
- Collaborating with other musical theatre faculty and theatre department leadership to coordinate the musical theatre program.
- Participation in student recruitment.
- Ongoing mentorship of students' creative and professional development.
Salary range: $76,000-$78,000
