Salary: $65,000 - $83,300
Produces and anchors live, local news segments, including anchoring live "extended coverage" of breaking news as well as locally produced shows. Pursuant to the State of Texas Executive Order No. GA-48, this position researches, works on, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the University infrastructure. This position requires personnel be routinely reviewed to determine whether or not criminal history or continuous connections for the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the employee from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure.
- As news anchor, provides aesthetic and creative direction of the production process for live public media programs.
- Conceives, researches, develops and executes ideas and concepts into program content.
- Provides on-air hosting and verbal delivery consistent with highest professional broadcast standards: National Public Radio-NPR.
- Acts as the local voice of news programming.
- Operates station broadcast and production equipment in a professional manner consistent with NPR standards.
- Advance the station's public image at community outreach events.
- Participates in station fund-raising campaigns and special events.
- Conducts both live and recorded interviews during on-air shift, generating story ideas and putting together spot news and feature news reports.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing: Requires technical certification or licensing directly related to the job, as specified on a job description addendum.
