UCI Health hematologic oncologists provide expert consultation and treatment for patients with many different types of cancer, including malignancies of the blood such as leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, as well as solid tumor carcinomas such as colon, breast and prostate.
The position of Nurse Practitioner II in the Department of Medicine, Hematology/Oncology Division, requires a highly competent, independent yet team-oriented individual who will be a critical part of the team for caring for patients. Under the supervision of Medical Director(s) and the Nurse Practitioner Supervisor, and guided by the applicable policies and procedures, the Nurse Practitioner will participate in the comprehensive care of patients in the inpatient settings at the UCI Medical Center Douglas Hospital in Orange, and provide multi-disciplinary care coordination, treatment, education, monitoring, and communication with patients and referring physicians.
A Nurse Practitioner is an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) who possesses the advanced education, knowledge, clinical skills and experience necessary to provide advanced nursing care in their area of specialization.
Functions as appropriate to their 'scope of practice' (In general, the 'scope of practice' includes the management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and surgical procedures per their approved standardized procedure).
Required: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; Ability to exercise diplomacy and flexibility; Must demonstrate customer service skills; Skill to clearly communicate medical information; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload; Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties; Ability to be trained in the use of specialized medical equipment and procedures; Demonstrates an understanding of and adheres to privacy, confidentiality, and security policies; Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program; Current, active, unrestricted California Registered Nurse license; Current, active, unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner license; Current, active, unrestricted Furnishing license and DEA registration; NP National Board Certification: Adult Gerontology Acute Care AGACNP-BC or ACNPC-AG; Current BLS certification and ACLS certification; Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Certification (ACONP) and/or ONS Chemotherapy Certification (obtained within 3 months of hire); Hematology/Oncology Experience (at least 2 or more years); Inpatient and/or Acute Care Experience (at least 2 or more years).
Preferred: Experience with clinical trial patient participation.
Salary Range Minimum: USD $85.48/Hr. Salary Range Maximum: USD $117.33/Hr.
