Nurse Practitioner - Neurology

Position Summary

The WashU Sleep Medicine Center is actively seeking a dedicated and patient-oriented Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to fill one position in our outpatient setting. Conveniently located at the Center 40 building in Brentwood, just south of I-64, all clinics will occur in this single, easily accessible location. Importantly, no evening or weekend clinics are expected, and complimentary parking is readily available adjacent to the building.

The position will have the provider focus on evaluating new and established patients who come in with sleep disorders. The most common disorders that are seen at our sleep center include obstructive sleep apnea and insomnia. We also address other less common disorders such as restless legs syndrome, narcolepsy and abnormal movements during sleep. Many of the patients undergo home sleep apnea testing or overnight sleep testing at our sleep center with those tests being interpreted by our board certified sleep physicians at the sleep center.

This position comes with on-site support from engaged collaborating physicians, providing a robust support system. Additionally, easy access to sub-specialty resources and an outstanding clinical support staff at the RN level further enhance the working environment. While there will be some shared patients, the Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will have the opportunity to develop their own patient panel with guidance from the collaborating physician, ensuring a level of independence.

Clinical expectations for this position encompass 32 hours of clinic work per a week. Telehealth clinics may also be a possibility, offering flexibility in patient care. This opportunity is ideal for someone seeking a balance of independence and a strong support system to address any questions or issues that may arise in the course of their clinical responsibilities.

Provides primary and/or specialty nursing and/or medical care in a variety of settings; works under physician oversight as required by state regulation and functions within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practitioner’s specialty certification, Barnes-Jewish Hospital medical by-laws, and, where it exists, the collaborative practice agreement.
