Position Summary: The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will provide high quality acute and primary care for Wingate University as well as the surrounding communities. This is a full-time position with the responsibility of providing sports medicine/orthopedic evaluations for injured athletes as well as primary and urgent care needs for our surrounding communities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing all aspects of patient care including diagnosis, treatment and consultation. Will serve as the patient’s primary healthcare provider. Will also prescribe medications within the scope of practice.
- Identify patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients and their families.
- Perform tasks such as conducting tests, recording medical histories, providing treatments, and enhancing public awareness of the importance of health and promote patient independence by establishing patient care goals, teaching patients to understand their condition, medication and self-care skills, answer questions, promote health and wellness.
- Assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measure health outcomes against patient care goals and standards, make or recommend necessary adjustments and resolve patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with rules and regulations, call for assistance from health care support personnel and protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
- Document patient care services via electronic health records, perform accurate, legal and ethical documentation at all times.
- Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by completing continuing education requirements, staying up-to-date on medical guidelines, establishing personal networks, and providing periodic educational in-services to the Wingate University campus community and surrounding communities.
- Maintain a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information, responding to requests, building rapport, participating in team problem-solving methods.
- Regular, predictable attendance on campus
- Alignment with University mission, vision, and strategic roadmap
- Other job duties/responsibilities may be assigned
Education and Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program (certification required)
- Must have experience with orthopedic injury evaluations and treatment plans as well as primary care/urgent care management
