Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC) is searching for a 10-month, dedicated full-time Nursing Faculty. The successful candidate will be required to work only 162 days per academic year (Late August – May) and will be provided with a winter break from mid/late-December to early January, a Spring Break for one week in mid-March. Faculty are not required to work in June, July, and most of August, but opportunities for teaching Summer classes exist and time may need to be spent preparing for the next semester.
In addition to the base salary, there is the potential for overload and other assignments, which would increase the base salary. There is also a pathway for promotion to higher level salary positions (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor).
The nursing department teaches most courses in a Hybrid format. This includes approximately half of the instruction for each course is asynchronous online and half is in a traditional format in the classroom. Instruction would be within our Fundamentals, Medical-Surgical or mental health courses, including professional nursing topics and pharmacology. As an FLCC faculty member you will have the opportunity to work with a supportive group of faculty in each course and team teach. This position will include instruction in the classroom, clinical and simulation/laboratory portions of each course.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching
- Develops and delivers course materials in a variety of formats, including in-person, online asynchronous, and hybrid modalities as part of a teaching team.
- Fosters an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
- Participates in curriculum development and assessment activities, including accreditation activities.
Advising, Service & Professional Development
- Advises and mentors students, supporting their academic and career goals.
- Serves on college committees and participate in faculty development opportunities.
- Attends course level, department and curriculum/assessments meetings throughout the semester.
- Engages in opportunities for growth in all facets of effective, inclusive teaching and learning.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in nursing required. Candidates enrolled in a Master’s program in Nursing will be considered.
- License to practice nursing in NYS.
- Acute care experience within the last 3-5 years.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience teaching is preferred.
Benefits and Salary Range
- Salary will depend on rank according to education and experience – Starting salary: Instructor: $68,346; Assistant Professor: $76,180.
