Nursing Faculty
West Shore Community College seeks an individual who is passionate about teaching in a successful rural nursing program with a desire to build strong relationships with students and colleagues. This full-time Nursing Faculty position (with potential for continuing appointment and full professor rank) will begin August 2026. This is a 9-month position with summers off. The successful candidate will be a collaborative, student-centered individual who can teach Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) online theory courses (Fundamentals, Pharmacology, Med/Surg I) and lab/clinical instruction for the traditional Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program. If you have the passion and desire to help build future nurses, we will support you in becoming an educator.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Teaching load (15 credit hours a semester/30 annually) in LPN Apprenticeship (online theory courses), ADN program (lab and clinical), and Allied Health programs.
- Responsible for curriculum in classroom, laboratory, and clinical setting. Assignments may include evening and weekend hours. Travel to clinical sites is required.
- Collaborate with colleagues and administrators to address teaching and community needs.
- Participate in planning, curricular review, and assessment; participate in and develop programs to measure student performance; participate in national accreditation process.
- Participate in professional development and maintain awareness of new trends and developments in the area(s) of nursing and allied health, curriculum, and instruction.
- Meet other contractual obligations as defined in the West Shore Community College Instructional Agreement.
Required Qualifications
- Masters in Nursing from accredited college, or Bachelor’s in Nursing with evidence that an active plan is in place to complete an MSN within a negotiated time frame.
- Current unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Michigan or the ability to attain.
- Two years’ work experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work and build positive relationships, both online and in person, with community members, health care professionals, students, faculty, and administration.
Compensation
- Salary range $49,638 – $104,074, commensurate with qualifications/experience. Summers off.
