About the Job
This role provides counsel to students, families, staff, and faculty on complex issues in the areas of financial aid, billing and payment, registration, student records, student employment, and veteran services. One Stop staff work to support campus recruitment, retention, and graduation initiatives. One Stop Counselors collaborate regularly with campus and University of Minnesota system partners.
This position requires exceptional customer service abilities, excellent communication skills, competent grasp of technology, a strong work ethic, and attention to detail. This job requires a sensitivity, knowledge, and understanding to work effectively with people from diverse academic, socioeconomic, gender, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
This is an in-person position and includes limited nights, weekends, and some travel. This is a 100% time, 12 month, annually renewable position reporting to the Director of One Stop Student Services.
Salary range: $55,000 - $58,000
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Program Management - 70%
- Counsel, investigate, and resolve student cases in the areas of financial aid, billing and payment, registration, records, student employment, and veteran services.
- Explain federal, state, and University policies and procedures and suggest changes to improve processes.
- Participate in One Stop program development and serve as the lead on assigned projects.
- Participate in developing new programs, events, and activities.
- Foster and develop relationships with campus partners and serve as a resource to faculty and staff
- Conduct one-on-one financial literacy and wellness meetings for students and parents/guests.
Program support - 20%
- Provide counsel to one stop professional and student staff, and bring forward student issues and concerns.
- Provide consultation and training to other campus departments and outside communities.
- Serve as a resource on One Stop initiatives
Committees and other duties as assigned - 10%
- Serve on committees and participate in professional organizations, as required.
- Attend all mandatory training/conferences required for position.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree and four or more years of related experience.
- Sensitivity, knowledge, and understanding to work effectively with people from diverse academic, socioeconomic, gender, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Must have a valid Minnesota driver’s license.
- To create and maintain a safe learning and working environment a successful background check is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- One or more years of direct experience in higher education or customer service.
- Experience with Customer Relationship Management software, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $55,000 - $58,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience
Time Appointment: 100% Appointment
