The College of Science and Mathematics (CSM), Department of Biological Sciences at Augusta University (AU) invites applications for a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. CSM seeks an outstanding individual with innovative and integrative research programs that would extend and complement existing faculty strengths in the Department of Biological Sciences. We are looking for someone who takes a molecular approach to physiology, organismal biology, and/or ecology. The successful candidate is expected to develop a vibrant, independent, and competitive research program to successfully secure external funding. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in his/her area of expertise, mentor graduate (MS, PhD) and undergraduate students, and serve on department, program, and campus committees. Responsibilities

Research - 45%
Research and other scholarly activities in the field to involve undergraduate and graduate science majors

Teaching - 45%
Teaching & coordinating biology courses as assigned.

Service - 10%
Perform service on committees and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in biological sciences or related field. At least 1-year postdoctoral experience. Strong publication record. Commitment to teaching or mentorship.

Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member.

Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

Professor- Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience. Per Board of Regents (BOR) policy, Professors must have a terminal degree.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is academic year based and typically works August through May, depending on dates outlined in offer letter and yearly contract.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0.

Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Rank and salary are determined at the time of hire and are based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, education, credentials, specialty, training, etc. while also considering internal equity and market data.
