The Division of Cardiology in the Department of Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is recruiting a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, as a fourth BC/BE fellowship trained cardiac electrophysiologist who will complement our well-established high-volume cardiac electrophysiology program. The Wellstar-MCG EP program provides comprehensive complex arrhythmia care to patients from a wide geographical area. We seek an ABIM board-certified or board-eligible cardiac electrophysiologist with a strong academic background and clinical skills in catheter ablation and cardiac rhythm device management. The tenure status (on tenure track, tenure upon appointment, or not on tenure track) will be determined based on the qualifications of the final candidate and will be confirmed in the final offer along with position expectations. Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive complex arrhythmia care to patients to include cathereter ablation and cardiac rhythm device management. Clinical experience in complex ablation including epicardial VT procedures and laser lead extraction is very desirable.
- Develop a robust outpatient clinical practice consisting of general cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology patients at the downtown practice site as well as satellite location(s).
- Participate in the EP Lab In-Patient Attending schedule.
- Participate in night and weekend call coverage at Wellstar-MCG Health for in-patient cardiology services as needed and similar to your colleagues.
- Development of scholarly activities including publication of case reports, review articles and most significantly, original scientific reports. Be responsible for fostering a productive program of clinical or translational research amongst trainees.
- Actively participate in the teaching of EP Fellows and CV Fellows and also teach residents and students as needed.
Required Qualifications
MD or equivalent; Fellowship training in Cardiac Electrophysiology; Board certified/Board eligible ABIM
Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Professor- Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
