The University of Houston Tillman J Fertitta Family College of Medicine (UHCOM) at the University of Houston announces a non-tenure track, open rank, Clinical Faculty position for a physician with specialty in pediatrics.
This non-tenure track faculty physician position that will provide direct patient care at the University of Houston College of Medicine Community Health Center. Additionally, this physician will contribute to the educational mission of UH College of Medicine through participation in problem-based learning sessions and didactic sessions. This position will report directly to the Chairman of the Clinical Sciences Department. Specific duties include the following:
Primary Responsibilities
Direct Patient Care
- Evaluate and treat pediatric patients in the UH College of Medicine Family Care Center (FCC).
- Provide input to for the development of pediatric clinical protocols and guidelines.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives in UH College of Medicine Community Health Center.
- Participate in community outreach activities.
Educational Mission:
Didactic & Small Group Teaching
- Prepare and deliver 1–2 large-group lectures per block (e.g. growth & development, vaccines, nutrition, pediatric anemias, congenital and developmental disorders, ped. behavioral med, ped. pharm)
- Facilitate monthly small-group CBL/PBL/ICC sessions.
- Lead 1–2 clinical skills sessions (pediatric physical exam, caregiver communication, transition to clerkship)
- Participate in interprofessional sessions (e.g., with OT/PT/SW on child development)
Curriculum Development
- Develop and review pediatric objectives within foundational blocks
- Create pediatric cases and associated teaching materials
- Collaborate with course directors on integration of pediatric content
- Contribute to OSCE development and scoring
PPP Facilitation
- Serve as a longitudinal small-group preceptor in our PPP course
Service & Mentorship
- Mentor students interested in pediatrics
- Participate in relevant curriculum and student progress committees
Minimum Qualifications
- Medical Licensure in the State of Texas
- Medical degree from an accredited allopathic or osteopathic college of medicine
- Board certification or board eligibility in Pediatrics
- Experience documenting with an electronic medical record
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching medical students and residents
- Experience contributing to quality improvement projects
- Bi-lingual in Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic, or Chinese
Salary and rank commensurate with academic achievements and experience.

Applicants must have a PhD, and/or MD/DO dependent on the position from an accredited institution. Physician applicants must possess an unrestricted Texas Medical License and board certification in their specialty. While exceptions may be considered, approval must be obtained from the Vice Dean of Education and/or the Dean of the College of Medicine and the Office of the Provost. All positions within the University of Houston System are security sensitive and will require a criminal history check. Physician applicants are required to provide documentation of current licensure and board certification as part of their application materials.
