Instructor or Assistant Professor, Continuing (Non-Tenure) Track Position
The Department of Health Behavior and Nutrition Sciences (HBNS) in the College of Health Sciences (CHS) at the University of Delaware (UD) seeks an experienced, innovative, and highly motivated instructor to join an award-winning faculty for a 9-month, open-rank, continuing track faculty appointment in the Nutrition program. Continuing track appointments are not eligible for tenure.
Primary responsibilities include serving as the Director of the ACEND-accredited Dietetic Internship and Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics/Dietetic Internship (MS/DI); teaching undergraduate and dietetic internship courses in food and nutrition; recruiting and mentoring students and interns; providing leadership to the nutrition program including curriculum development and evaluation; and contributing to University service.
The ideal candidate will possess the expertise to design and implement curriculum and evaluate dietetic intern performance in the clinical, community, and food service management domains of dietetics.
The successful candidate will:
- Hold a master’s degree or higher in nutrition or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Possess active credentials as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and have a minimum of three years of professional experience, post-credentialing, in nutrition, dietetics, or a related health field.
GENERAL INFORMATION: HBNS (https://www.udel.edu/academics/colleges/chs/departments/hbns/) is a thriving academic unit of 28 faculty, approximately 700 undergraduate students and 50 graduate students. The Department includes undergraduate programs in Health Behavior Science, Integrated Health Sciences, Nutrition and Dietetics, and Nutrition and Medical Sciences. Graduate programs include a Ph.D. in Health Behavior Science and Promotion, M.S. in Health Promotion, M.P.H. in Community Health and Behavior, Ph.D. in Nutrition Science, M.S. in Human Nutrition, M.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics/Dietetic Internship combined program, a Dietetic Internship Certificate, and a Graduate Certificate in Health Coaching. HBNS is known for rapidly growing research, dynamic teaching, student engagement, and departmental collaborations.
The Nutrition Counseling, Research and Training Clinic (NCRTC) is part of HBNS and provides medical nutrition therapy services to the community while engaging in innovative research initiatives and training students to be future nutrition professionals. There is also a Health Coaching Clinic that provides services to the community and serves as a training site for students in the Graduate Certificate program in Health Coaching.
The College of Health Sciences is a dynamic, innovative academic unit with more than 3,400 undergraduate and graduate students and 131 faculty, who are nationally recognized leaders across multiple disciplines. SALARY AND BENEFITS: Compensation packages are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Faculty at the University have regularly received annual cost-of-living and merit salary increases and the benefits package is one of the best in the nation. Relocation and start-up funds are available and negotiable.
