The Department of Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine at Augusta University's Medical College of Georgia is seeking applications for a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor in neuroscience research. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research focuses on age-related cognitive impairment, synaptic dysfunction, neurodegeneration, and neuroregeneration. Academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong record of research productivity and a history of securing extramural funding. Responsibilities
Research
Conduct cutting edge research in the fields of neuroinflammation, neurodegeneration and neuroregeneration. Carry out research projects independently; design and execute research experiments, perform data analysis, write manuscripts, and publish results. Establish vigorous independent extramurally funded research programs to complement research strengths and goals of the department and university. Develop new methods and technology and work collaboratively with others in the laboratory and in the department. Assist with training and supervision of students, postdocs, and technicians. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Teaching
Participate in teaching medical and graduate students.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Professor- Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
An established national and international reputation in the fields of Alzheimer's disease or other neurodegenerative disorders. Sustained success in obtaining external funding for research. Exceptional track record of publications in top scientific journals. Evidence of a commitment to fostering multidisciplinary collaborations with other academic researchers both inside and outside the university. Unique, cutting edge technology expertise.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
