Job Summary

Conduct research on Alzheimer's disease, neuropsychiatric disorders, and the microbiome in Seo laboratory (Seo laboratory) using transgenic mouse models and/or organoid model. Applicants with expertise in human disease modeling, utilizing cutting-edge cellular and organoid systems, including those developed from patient-specific induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), are particularly encouraged to apply. Feed special diets, perform drug treatment and behavior tests to mice. Primary cell or organoid (brain and/or intestine) culture. Performs a standardized protocol collecting mouse specimens including brain and other peripheral organs, preparing these samples for histology and molecular/biochemical analysis. Perform a variety of complex chemical, biological, cytologic, microscopic, histologic, surgical, statistical/computational, and dissection procedures. Identifies and implements experimental and analytical pipeline improvements and refinements. Prepares and submits papers on research. Develop hypotheses to be tested and ways of testing it. Contribute to manuscript and grant preparation by providing figures, methods, and technical expertise.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities to include, but are not limited to:

  • Participate in project planning and development of research projects. Develop and refine protocols while ensuring adherence to accepted scientific research principles and compliance with relevant federal guidelines. Perform a variety of experimental studies Including cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics and pharmacology experiments in-vivo and in-vitro. Experiments may include but not be limited to primary cell and/or organoid culturing, animal colony management, behavioral testing, genotyping, ELISA, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence, collection of tissues, and multiomic profiling. Analyze results of experiments and procedures and, if necessary, develop special computer programs to facilitate analysis. Maintain and update spreadsheets documenting results.
  • Write manuscripts and develop research proposals in line with the laboratory's research directions.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of students, graduate assistants, and other research personnel engaged in research activities and/or related laboratory work.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. from an accredited college or university.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases or willingness to learn.

SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills.

Willingness and ability to work with research animals.
