The IE School of Science and Technology at IE University invites applications for a full-time, open-rank faculty position in Industrial Engineering, with a specialization in Manufacturing Systems and Engineering. The position may be offered at the tenure-track or tenured level, depending on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.
We welcome applications from outstanding early-career researchers, including new PhD graduates and doctoral candidates who expect to complete their PhD before the appointment begins, as well as established scholars with a strong record of high-quality research, academic publications, and competitive research funding.
The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching in areas such as Manufacturing Processes and Systems, Production Systems, Industrial Instrumentation for Automation, and Cyber-physical systems and digital manufacturing. They will also be expected to develop an internationally recognized research program and secure funding through competitive national and international research programs.
Spanish language skills are not required. Our working language is English. Both our faculty and student body are highly international.
We are particularly interested in candidates whose research addresses one or more of the following areas:
- Advanced manufacturing systems and technologies
- Warehousing, Smart manufacturing, Industry X.0
- Digital manufacturing, digital twins, and cyber-physical production systems
- Manufacturing processes, process modeling, monitoring, and optimization
- Robotics, industrial automation, and human–robot collaboration
- Computer-aided design, manufacturing, and engineering
- Production systems design, planning, scheduling, and control
- Artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics for manufacturing
- Sustainable manufacturing, circular production systems, and industrial decarbonization
- Quality engineering, reliability, maintenance, and industrial asset management
- Human-centered manufacturing, ergonomics, and the future of work
Candidates working at the intersection of these areas or applying multidisciplinary approaches to emerging challenges in manufacturing, automation, digitalization, and sustainability are strongly encouraged to apply.
