Job Summary:
Patient Access Navigators at the CU Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center are on the front lines of the battle to improve healthcare equity by investing time and energies to help patients with congenital bleeding and clotting disorders navigate the complexities of the healthcare system. Navigators will explain clinic processes, insurance coverage, and patient responsibilities in a culturally sensitive manner to improve patient outcomes.
Access Navigators will be responsible for making the first impression for both the Center and School of Medicine. New patients will base their impression of care on the successful handling of their onboarding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide patients with access to information about health insurance coverage.
- Provide access to care through appointment scheduling.
- Provide access to patient care by facilitating patient transportation.
- Provide access to patient care by arranging for non-English translation at point-of-care.
- Provide access to Medications through exploration of drug company patient assistance programs.
Work Location:
Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Healthcare Technician I:
- High school diploma/GED.
Healthcare Technician II:
- High school diploma/GED.
- One (1) year of experience in patient financial counseling in a healthcare setting
Healthcare Technician III:
- High school diploma/GED.
- Two (2) years of experience in patient financial counseling in a healthcare setting
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Specialty clinic experience.
- Experience utilizing EPIC EMR.
- Bilingual in Spanish/English.
- Prior experience in outpatient clinic.
- Previous experience in prior authorization process, Medicare/Medicaid (CMS), and commercial insurance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong Business and Organizational Competence.
- Time Management Skills with the ability to multitask.
- Tolerance for ambiguity and multiple conflicting deadlines.
- Initiative and adaptability to multiple conflicting deadlines.
- Ability to maintain personal accountability and integrity.
- Working knowledge of ICD9/10 diagnosis codes and CPT procedure codes.
- Electronic Medical Record proficiency.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:
- Healthcare Technician I: $41,736 – $48,413
- Healthcare Technician II: $43,812 – $50,830
- Healthcare Technician III: $46,008 – $53,371
The above salary range (*or hiring range*) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
