Ohio University is making a significant, university-wide investment in Brain Health and Cognition Across the Lifespan. This initiative brings together faculty expertise across the College of Health Sciences and Professions, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Patton College of Education to advance discovery in brain health, cognition, communication, movement, and learning. Faculty hired into this cohort will join a collaborative, interdisciplinary network dedicated to understanding and enhancing cognitive and functional health across the lifespan, from early development through older adulthood.
As part of this initiative, the Department of Psychology invites applicants for a tenure-track (open rank) faculty position in Cognitive Psychology. This position will begin on August 16, 2027, with the possibility of an earlier start date of January 1, 2027. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a programmatic research agenda with strong potential for extramural funding, expertise in cognitive psychology, and advanced quantitative skills. Preference will be given to applicants whose research program complements ongoing initiatives in healthy aging, including for example, the application of quantitative methods and/or computational modeling to advance understanding of how cognitive functions change with age or are impacted by injury or disease.
Responsibilities include maintaining an active, high-quality, fundable research program, directing graduate student research, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, and participating in departmental service. The teaching load is typically 1-2 courses each semester during the 9-month academic calendar.
Minimum Qualifications
- Candidates must have received a PhD in Psychology or closely related discipline at the time of appointment and demonstrate evidence of research productivity in the field relevant to the position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience or high probability of maintaining an active, high-quality, fundable research program.
- Expertise in cognitive psychology and advanced quantitative skills.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness or potential for teaching effectiveness.
- Prior experience mentoring students in research.
- Ability to contribute to the department's collegial and collaborative environment.
