Open Rank (Tenured or Tenure Track) Professor of Advanced Technologies, Manufacturing, and Materials for Sustainable Architecture
About the Opportunity
The School of Architecture in the College of Arts, Media and Design (CAMD) at Northeastern University invites applications for an open-rank tenured or tenure-track position at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level in advanced technologies, manufacturing, and materials in relationship to sustainability, affordability, resilience, and health in the built environment, to be located at the Boston campus. We are particularly interested in candidates qualified for a joint appointment between the School of Architecture and the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering in the College of Engineering.
We seek candidates whose research and teaching engage with one or more of the following or related areas: design for manufacture and assembly (DfMA) and industrialized/offsite construction; robotics and human-robot collaboration for fabrication and assembly; AI, data, and digital twins for the built environment; circular, low‑carbon, and biogenic materials; integration of life cycle assessment, embodied energy, and embodied carbon analyses into design processes and construction logistics; innovative energy and environmental systems for health and wellbeing; performance-based codes, digital compliance, and pathways such as system certification.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, including courses in core building technology; mentoring students at undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels; maintaining a strong program of high-impact research that attracts external funding and/or recognition; and participating in departmental, college and university service. Qualified candidates must be prepared to work with global student populations.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a M.Arch, MLA, or other terminal degree in Architecture, or a PhD in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field by the employment start date; and demonstrated potential to attract external funding for research and/or creative practice.

Pay Range: Assistant Professor: $93,000.00 - $114,000.00 | Associate Professor: $104,000.00 - $131,000.00 | Professor: $127,000.00 - $214,000.00
