We are inviting applications for a part-time, (14.6 hours/week, 0.4 FTE ) Operations Administrator at the brand-new Bennett School of Public Policy (BSPP), within the Faculty of Human, Social and Political Science at the University of Cambridge.
This key role will begin in April 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter and will support the efficient daily running of the School. Working closely with the Professional Services Team and Senior Management Team, the postholder will provide comprehensive administrative, PA, and organisational support to enable the smooth delivery of the School's academic, strategic, and operational activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day to day administrative support across the School, including maintaining accurate records, managing digital files (including SharePoint), preparing documents, arranging room bookings, and handling logistics.
- Support senior staff with diary management, meeting coordination, travel arrangements, inbox monitoring, and drafting correspondence.
- Prepare agendas, take minutes, and circulate papers and action items.
- Coordinate events, seminars, and workshops, including venue booking, catering, logistics, and attendee communication.
- Maintain and update data for expenditure tracking, attendance monitoring, and event reporting.
- Assist with HR administration including sickness and leave records, probation tracking, and starter/leaver processes.
- Support recruitment activity by scheduling interviews, communicating with candidates, and preparing interview documentation.
- Act as a first point of contact for departmental enquiries, providing clear and accurate information to staff, students, and external partners.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a good general level of education (HND/HNC, Level 4/5 qualification, or equivalent experience).
- Is confident using standard software packages (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Is highly organised, accurate, and able to prioritise effectively.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong written English.
- Can solve problems independently and handle enquiries professionally.
- Has previous administrative experience, including digital file management, diary management, and responding to enquiries.
This role is worked Monday to Friday in line with departmental operational requirements.
