As the Operations Coordinator for the Child Health Research Centre (CHRC), you’ll support meaningful work that improves the health and wellbeing of children and young people.
You will play a key role in connecting clinicians, researchers, Queensland Health partners and professional staff, helping create clear pathways that enable collaboration and high-impact research. You’ll work with autonomy and trust, contribute ideas that strengthen how the Centre functions, and help shape systems and governance frameworks that support high-quality research. This position will directly supervise Centre Admin Officer to support the operations of CHRC.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinate financial, administrative and operational processes, ensuring accuracy and alignment with policy.
- Develop, implement and improve procedures, systems, documentation and SOPs.
- Manage governance, compliance and risk activities including reporting, audits and records management.
- Build effective relationships with clinicians, researchers, Queensland Health and UQ partners to support seamless collaboration.
- Lead or coordinate internal projects, supporting planning, resourcing, documentation and delivery.
- Coordinates a range of committee and governance activities, including the implementation of governance and committee structures, protocols, operating procedures, and Key Performance Indicators.
- Other duties as requested by supervisor.
Full-time, permanent position
Base salary will be in the range $104,616 - $113,920 + 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 7)
Based at the Centre for Children’s Health Research next to the Queensland Children’s Hospital, South Brisbane
About You
- A degree with at least four (4) years subsequent relevant experience in administration or operational coordination within a large or complex organisation, ideally healthcare, higher education or research.
- Creative approach to developing new processes and ensuring operational efficiency, transparency, and achievement of goals.
- Demonstrated capability to interpret and apply policies, governance requirements and compliance frameworks.
- Proven ability to engage with diverse research stakeholders, including industry partners, and facilitate the communication of research linkages and impacts across various groups.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills in providing a high level of customer service and the ability to exercise superior judgement and discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information. You can communicate effectively, diplomatically, and discreetly with senior staff and key external stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- A high level of proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and ability to use contemporary digital collaboration tools efficiently to achieve team goals and productivity.
