OPS Advanced Practice Registered Nurse/Physician Assistant
Job Summary
The OPS Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant provides professional primary care including women's health and sexual health, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, ordering and scheduling laboratory studies and professional consultations. Operates within mutually established protocols with licensed medical professionals.
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
- Directs patients/student care to include but not limited to: performing triage functions and obtaining relevant health and medical history.
- Performs physical examinations including gynecological exams.
- Orders and interprets diagnostic lab tests.
- Administers initial treatment for emergency cases and coordinates care of students.
- Prescribes and/or recommends medications and treatments.
- Provides physician referrals to patients in need of further medical care and services.
- Applies appropriate policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of practice.
- Collaborates with healthcare team demonstrating knowledge of specific conditions, diseases, and treatment therapies.
- Monitors care and suggests ways to provide continuous quality improvement.
- Assists with the development of policies and procedures.
- Adheres to and complies with HIPAA.
- If hired as an APRN: serves as a preceptor for NP/DNP students.
- If hired as a PA: serves as a preceptor for PA students.
Minimum Qualifications for OPS Advanced Practice Registered Nurse:
- Licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes.
- Current America Heart Association BLS certification.
- Board certified in Family Health, Adult Health, or Women's Sexual Health.
- Three years of professional, full-time experience in a physician's office.
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
- Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Minimum Qualifications for OPS Physician Assistant:
- Certification as a Physician Assistant in accordance with Chapter 458, Florida Statutes.
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
- Board certified in Family Health, Adult Health, or Women's Sexual Health.
- Three years of professional, full-time clinical experience in a physician's office.
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
- Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
- Two years of professional, full-time clinical experience in a primary care setting.
- Experience in various clinical backgrounds within a college health center.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Experience with electronic health records.
