OPS IT Support Student Assistant - College of Criminology & Criminal Justice
Responsibilities
The College of Criminology & Criminal Justice is seeking an OPS IT Support Student Assistant to provide day-to-day technical support. This role involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues, maintaining systems, and equipment, and assisting with IT projects and operations.
- Assist with managing the college’s day-to-day IT support needs autonomously.
- Resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
- Communicate planned and unplanned service disruptions and implement fallbacks.
- Document enterprise services with diagram/flowcharting applications to identify systems, data flow, and dependencies of applications provided by the Office of Information Technology.
- Completion of service health monitoring and preventative maintenance activities as assigned.
- Assist with automation of service health monitoring activities via PowerShell, Snipe IT, and other technologies as required.
- Assist with operation of Microsoft Hyper-V environment.
- Assist with other initiatives as assigned; positions include assisting with software and hardware migrations and inventory compliance.
- Operate technical equipment and complete maintenance duties related to lab, computer, cameras, machinery, or other specialized equipment.
- This position will help provide computer support for the College of Criminology & Criminal Justice. This will involve diagnosing hardware and software problems remotely and in person. It will also involve setting up new computers and retiring old computers.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalency.
- Student majoring in Computer Science or IT-related field.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Stand, sit, or squat for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic to Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Intune.
- Basic understanding of virtual technologies and architecture.
- Prioritize tasks based on urgency and impact.
- Windows operating system knowledge must be current (Windows 11 and Server 2022+).
- Good documentation habits and attention to detail.
- PowerShell and Bash scripting proficiency.
- Familiarity with Linux and macOS.
- Data Privacy Compliance experience.
