Description:
Instructs, evaluates, trains and works with optometry students in selection, fitting and dispensing ophthalmic eyewear. Oversees students while they handle the heavy patient load, assuring best quality care is provided to every patient. 1. Assists and trains students in opticianry skills. 2. Verifies spectacle prescriptions upon receipt from laboratory. 6. Communicates with optical laboratories and vendors to expedite delivery of optical goods. 7. Communicates with doctors and faculty to resolve patient visual complaints and problems. 8. Answers patient questions in person and over the telephone. 9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Additional Preferred Qualifications and Skills 1) Certified through the national American Board of Opticianry (ABO) 2) Conversational Spanish speaking skills MQs: Requires specialized training in basic trades, principles, procedures, practice, routines or techniques in a specific area or trade which might normally be acquired through up to 18 months of education or training beyond the high school level. Vocational competence in the operation of mechanical or electronic equipment may be required. Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.
