This position will serve as Climbing Coordinator for Outdoor Adventures. The position will work with the professional and student staff team to further the mission and vision of Outdoor Adventures: that people of all identities feel empowered to take risks and find value in the unknown. You will contribute to offering the University and greater Lincoln community broad-reaching outdoor and leadership programs.
As the Climbing Coordinator you will specifically coordinate and manage the climbing program.
This includes:
- Maintenance, route setting, and programming of the indoor/outdoor climbing walls.
- Execution of all facets of climbing education, including academic indoor and outdoor climbing classes.
- Responsible for climbing wall staff recruitment/training/supervision and scheduling.
- Plan and execute multi-day outdoor climbing trips, including training student trip leaders, as part of the Adventure Trips program.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree. Equivalent combination of education and experience, that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
- 1-year experience.
- Experience leading multi-day group outdoor climbing trips and providing climbing education.
- Experience leading, supervising and training a team.
- Able to work in a digital environment across multiple software platforms.
- Knowledge of route-setting and climbing wall maintenance.
- Ability to build outdoor climbing anchors.
- Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree.
- Working within a collegiate outdoor program, supervision of climbing wall employees and instructors.
- Overseeing climbing wall events and community-focused programming.
- Experience with customer recruitment and retention.
- Working with adaptive rock-climbing systems.
- Training route setters.
- Experience leading backcountry trips and the skills and disposition that are needed to develop student leaders, including knowledge of leadership theory, group dynamics, communication skills, and conflict management.
- Experience managing students in a collegiate outdoor program.
- Documented formal instruction, extensive leadership and programming experience in two or more of the following: indoor and/or outdoor climbing, A minimum of 100 total days in the field (including personal days) with 35-40 of those being professional trip leading experience.
- Certifications related to indoor and/or outdoor rock climbing in one or more of the following climbing professional organizations: PCIA, CWA, AMGA
- Wilderness First Responder Certification
