"Outpatient Surgery RN - PreOp/PACU Float Pool"

Scope of Position:

The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patients involvement in his/her own plan of care and reducing the length of hospitalization, The staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement , the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost effective care.

Position Summary:

The Staff Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Staff Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model.

The Ambulatory Float Pool covers 5 outpatient surgery sites: Outpatient Care New Albany, Outpatient Care Dublin, The Eye and Ear Institute, Jameson Crane Sports Medicine, and OSU East Ambulatory. As a float, you'll receive your assignment by noon the day before and work either Pre-Op or PACU at one of these locations. Responsibilities include preparing patients for surgery (assessment, history review, vitals, IV start) and recovering patients post-surgery (pain management, ambulation, education, discharge instructions, and ensuring patient stability).

Minimum Qualifications:

Degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program required. Current Ohio license or interim permit. *Experience in relevant care setting preferred.
