Outreach Curriculum and Instructional Specialist
Job Details
GSSM seeks an exceptional STEM Curriculum and Instructional Specialist to become a part of an inclusive team of talented educators who collaborate to develop and deliver statewide STEM learning experiences to students and teachers in grades 3-10. The position responsibilities include developing curriculum in advanced energy and energy resiliency, providing instruction, coordinating the implementation of programming, and supporting other Outreach Center programs and initiatives during the academic year and summer as they relate to GSSM's SC NEXUS Education and Workforce Center (EWC) Project. Due to the statewide delivery of the curriculum, travel is required during the school year and summer program months for this position. Travel varies depending on where the learning experience is being delivered, and it may include extended nights. Options for a remote work location to carry out the responsibilities of the position may be considered.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated through experience and success the ability to carry out the core functions of the position. The necessary credentials include a bachelor's degree in science, mathematics, engineering, STEM education, or a related field. An advanced degree and knowledge specific to advanced energy and/or energy resiliency is preferred. Desired qualifications include a strong background in the STEM disciplines with an understanding of advanced energy and experience teaching at a variety of levels and in various settings. Experience with curriculum design, providing professional development, and using instructional learning technologies is preferred. Candidates should have a proven ability to collaborate with others and the ability to manage multiple tasks. They should also possess a demonstrated understanding of effective pedagogy, an enthusiasm for teaching and developing STEM curricula, excellent interpersonal skills, and proficiency in written and oral communication.

GSSM is a public high school serving 11th-12th grade students residentially and 10th-12th grades through virtual programs. GSSM's Outreach Center engages over 9000 elementary and middle school students through various STEM educational programs around the state in partnership with schools, districts, and SC's Technical College System. GSSM is nationally recognized for the quality of its advanced STEM, humanities, student research, and international programs.
