About the Role

The Oxford Quantum Institute (OQI) aims to position Oxford as a leading international centre for quantum science and technology, connecting world-class researchers, industry partners, government, and global collaborators.

An exciting career development opportunity has arisen at the OQI for a highly motivated and ambitious individual to build a research and teaching profile that will position the holder for academic positions in the future.

As an OQI ECF, you will conduct research and innovation within the broad area of quantum science and technology at the University of Oxford under the aegis of the Oxford Quantum Institute. You will engage in advanced study and academic research, working to develop and carry out research projects, teach and co-supervise graduate students, and contribute to the community and running of OQI. Further, you will play an important role in the teaching and academic administration of the Master in Quantum Technology course. Reporting to the Course Director, you will be a member of the teaching team for the Masters course, providing specialist teaching for graduate students on the course.

You will have experience of experimental, theoretical or computational research in the area of quantum technologies, either in Physics or a related discipline (including Engineering, Materials, Chemistry, Computer Science or Mathematics)

You will have a strong publication record and familiarity with the existing literature and research in the field of quantum technologies and sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline of quantum technologies to develop research projects and methodologies.

You will have evidence of the ability to write research reports and proposals, an aptitude for teaching and awareness of pedagogic methods.

You will have sufficient depth and breadth of knowledge in the subject to develop course units and have proven communication and interpersonal skills that enable the formation of good working relationships with colleagues, students and collaborators.

You will have a commitment to promoting a culture of equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace, including the undertaking of appropriate training as and when asked to do so.

Only applications received before midday on 10 March 2026 can be considered. You will be required to upload a supporting statement, CV and details for two referees as part of your online application. For any queries regarding the role please contact recruitment@physics.ox.ac.uk.
