Imperial College London invites applications for the following two positions:
- Assistant Professor in Health Data Analytics
- Assistant Professor in Environmental Epidemiology and Data Science
This is an exciting opportunity to join the School of Public Health (SPH) on Imperial’s new White City campus.
You will play a leading role in the development of research and teaching in health data analytics, environmental epidemiology, data science/biostatistics and computational epidemiology, working closely with other academic staff and postdoctoral staff within the School.
Additionally, you will play a key role in the development of world-leading research programmes in your area of expertise. You will also be expected to contribute to the School and Faculty’s successful and expanding wider undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes including the development of a proposed new undergraduate programme in Data Science for Health. You will carry out research and teaching activities and raise research funding at a level commensurate with the appointment.
You will also undertake the usual administrative duties associated with a busy academic and research-active environment. You may also be required to undertake other duties, as required by the Head of Department and Head of School.

What you would be doing:
You will:
- Manage research projects
- Develop contacts with other research organisations, both academic and commercial.
- Contribute to the delivery and extension of postgraduate education programmed within Imperial College Faculty of Medicine.
- Undertake the supervision of PhD candidates and other teaching duties as required.
- Contribute to administrative activities associated with the busy academic and research-active environment of the School.
- Undertake other duties, as required by the Head of Department and Head of the School.
What we are looking for:
- PhD in epidemiology, data science, biostatistics, environmental science or related field or equivalent
- To teach and examine courses at all levels – undergraduate, masters and higher research degrees – through lectures, seminars, tutorials, course work and personal supervision
- To contribute to the development of a new undergraduate programme in Data Science for Health across the School of Public Health
- Ability to work confidently with R and STATA/ Python
- To develop a broad range of research within the department, including methodological research in Environmental Epidemiology
- To act as a coach and role model through excellent practice and mentoring of colleagues.
- To be able to translate research evidence into policy; e.g. through structured input to policy makers using relevant methodologies such as health impact assessment.
- A good publication record /the ability to publish high quality research in peer reviewed journals.
- Experience of preparing grant applications for submission
- Evidence of teaching applied statistics and/or related quantitative discipline
- A commitment to high-quality, inclusive teaching and supporting student learning
