Position Announcement

Assists with daily parking operations and provides some front-line services. This includes providing exemplary customer service, processing parking system data, serving as liaison to university departments, and some reception duties. Part-time hourly staff position working 25 - 29 hours per week during the hours of 9:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and work collaboratively with Parking Manager maintaining and implementing effective operational procedures and standards.
  • Assist with developing, maintaining, and updating training manuals.
  • Serves as liaison to the Parking Appeals Committee Chair and Committee.
  • Engage with University employees, students, and the public in a friendly, professional, and respectful manner, always providing the highest ethical and quality service, and exercise conflict resolution when needed; answering phone calls, voicemails and emails, and walk-in questions. Must be able to answer a wide variety of questions regarding parking regulations and other campus interests.
  • Process parking pass requests, perform permit, citation, and payment audit and administrative functions, visitor voids, and upkeep and maintenance of secure files.
  • Perform functions and other related tasks as assigned.
  • Ensure safe and security of all records in accordance with university policies and procedures, campus rules, St. George City ordinances, and Utah State Laws, as applicable.
  • Uphold confidentiality with Utah Criminal Justice Information System (UCJIS), University platforms, and Parking Management Systems.
  • Serve as the Alt Terminal Agency Coordinator (Alt-TAC) as needed.
  • Alert Parking Manager to parking account, system, or general issues.
  • Provide counsel and support to Parking Attendant/Security Officer and Parking/Police Office staff, including work direction and technical assistance; parking enforcement training provided.
  • Assist with parking lot signage and closures; ability to operate fleet vehicles when needed.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required, and two years' work experience and/or college education post-graduation. Associates degree or higher preferred.
  • Parking Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Emergency Services and/or Homeland Security background preferred.
  • Fingerprint background check required.
  • Driver's license required; fleet vehicle Defensive Driver training provided.
  • Ability to work at least 3 hours a day consecutively; example 9:00am-12:00pm. Full shift consecutively preferred; example 9:00am-3:00pm or 11:00am-5:00pm with one hour lunch.
  • Prior experience in customer service.
  • Exercise good judgement, be trustworthy, ethical, and self-motivated, and have the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Good phone and reception etiquette with the ability to communicate with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality and exercise conflict resolution.
  • Ability to concentrate on detailed projects while remaining flexible, proactive, and efficient.
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures and office equipment.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, and attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reports. Experience with Banner, Argos, and parking systems preferred.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and utilize repetitive hand motion (typing, etc.) and occasionally walk or stand for extended periods outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Part-time hourly staff position (20-25 hours per week). Hourly rate of $17-$19, depending on qualifications & experience.
