Paediatric Child Protection Physician

The Department of Paediatrics, Children’s Hospital, London Health Science Centre, and Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University is seeking a Paediatric Child Protection Physician to join our established Division of Paediatric Critical Care Medicine as a full-time faculty member.

The Department of Paediatrics provides comprehensive acute care, ambulatory and in-patient services for children to a population of 2 million in southwestern and northwestern Ontario. Children with a full range of care issues are managed in our Paediatric Emergency Department, Paediatric Critical Care Unit, High Dependency/Transition unit, Neonatology Unit and in-patient Clinical Teaching Units. The Department has a strong research environment and is partnered with the Children’s Health Institute (CHRI Website) with broad programs studying children ranging in age from pre-term neonates to adolescents. The Department is very active in undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education.

The Division of Paediatric Child Protection provides consultation for child maltreatment for Children’s Hospital. The Division falls under the Division of Paediatric Hospital Medicine, which provides comprehensive in-patient service to a population of about 1.5 million in Southwestern Ontario, as well as an expanding range of ambulatory clinics. The Division of Paediatric Child Protection works closely with all paediatric medicine and surgical subspecialties. The Division is also very active in undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education.

Candidates must hold an MD or equivalent and be eligible for licensing in the Province of Ontario. Specialist certification in Paediatrics through the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent is required. Board certification in Child Maltreatment Paediatrics would be an asset, though not essential. Successful candidates will have a keen interest in academic medicine, the ability to collaborate effectively with all other members of the health care team and office staff and will be expected to participate in team-based health care and teaching, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Compensation for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be primarily composed of an alternative funding plan and academic salary.
