Parking and Transportation Coordinator
Job Description Summary:
The Parking and Transportation Coordinator is the front-facing representative of the Campus Safety and Transportation Department, serving as the first point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This role manages parking permits; visitor passes and provides direct customer service to the campus community. In addition, the coordinator oversees the university fleet by scheduling departmental van rentals, ensuring vehicles are ready for use, coordinating repairs and maintenance with mechanics, and keeping DMV paperwork and payments current. The coordinator is also responsible for managing all driver authorizations for university vehicles, ensuring compliance with institutional and insurance requirements.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Campus Safety & Emergency Management, this position combines customer service, administrative support, and logistical coordination to ensure efficient operations, regulatory compliance, and a safe, accessible campus. The coordinator also provides backup coverage for dispatch as needed, requiring flexibility and strong attention to detail.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in organization, business administration, public administration, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years of administrative or office support experience.
- Experience in a customer service or public-facing role is required.
Driving and Compliance:
- Valid California Class C Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass University background check and any required pre-employment screenings.

- Clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with students, faculty, staff, visitors, mechanics, and external vendors.
- Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills, particularly in handling parking disputes, appeals, and inquiries.
Organizational & Administrative
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple priorities such as permits, event logistics, fleet scheduling, and DMV deadlines.
- Attention to detail in maintaining accurate records, databases, and compliance documentation.
- Ability to plan and coordinate logistics for campus events and transportation needs.
Technical & Analytical
- Proficiency in office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace) and the ability to learn parking/fleet management systems.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance, fleet scheduling, and mechanical service coordination.
- Ability to interpret and apply university, regional, and state transportation/parking regulations.
Operational & Safety
- Knowledge of parking enforcement practices and the ability to monitor compliance fairly and consistently.
- Familiarity with driver authorization processes, DMV requirements, and insurance compliance.
- Ability to provide backup dispatch support, including multitasking and effective communication under pressure.

Specific Duties:
Duty: Parking Operations
- Coordinate the issuing of parking permits, tracking, campus parking permits; respond to related inquiries.
- Oversee parking enforcement, including monitoring lot usage, issuing citations, and processing appeals.
- Plan and manage parking logistics for campus events, including signage, space reservations, and traffic plans.
- Ensure the maintenance and proper functionality of parking structures, signage, and related equipment.
- Review and ensure compliance with University, regional, and state parking regulations.
- Provide general information and directions to campus locations; respond to inquiries from students, staff, and visitors.
Percentage of Time: 25%
Duty: Transportation Services
- Manage the University Driver Program and fleet inspection/maintenance, including oversight of DMV Pull Notice Program (in coordination with Risk Management).
- Oversee all university-controlled and contracted transportation services, including Foothill Transit, Metrolink, LA Metro campus fleet vehicles, and shuttle programs.
- Provide behind-the-wheel safety training for authorized golf cart drivers (faculty, staff, and students).
- Assist in developing and implementing transportation plans that support University mobility and access needs.
- Coordinate maintenance for the University fleet, including 19 vehicles, 1 forklift, and 30 electric carts.
- Manage relationships with contracted fleet vendors and repair shops.
- Maintain compliance with South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) regulations.
- Managing all driver authorizations and training records.
Percentage of Time: 25%
Duty: Administrative Support
- Track Transportation expenditures and assist with budget oversight.
- Process invoices and maintain accurate operational and financial records.
- Generate reports related to permits, citations, vehicle usage, transportation activities, parking space usage and vendor performance.
- Assist with the Communication Center in the absence of a dispatcher.
- Learn to be proficient with technologies and department systems to include surveillance systems and access controls such as Hexagon, Symmetry, and USA Alarms.
Percentage of Time: 25%
Duty: Customer Service
- Provide high-quality, responsive service to students, employees, and campus guests regarding parking and transportation policies.
- Handle complaints, inquiries, and issues with professionalism and tact.
- Communicate policies and services clearly to a diverse campus population.
- Review parking citation appeals.
Percentage of Time: 10%
Duty: Compliance and Safety
- Ensure all operations follow University policies and comply with local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of parking regulations; enforce policies appropriately.
- Collaborate with Campus Safety to support parking enforcement, respond to incidents, and promote overall campus safety.
- Maintain and update the Parking and Transportation Policy Manual.
Percentage of Time: 15%
Salary Range
Maximum: 27.14/Hr
Minimum: $23.10
