Accountabilities
Remote Part-Time Readers for the Colgate Office of Admission will provide critical support in the holistic assessment of Early and Regular Decision first-year applicants to the University. They will be asked to conduct a number of application-review tasks, which will primarily include computing and gathering quantitative data on applicants as well as conducting a holistic applicant review alongside a reading partner. Thorough training on all elements of Colgate's application review process will be conducted upon hire. Remote Part-Time Readers must be comfortable evaluating applicants in accordance with Colgate's mission as outlined in the Third-Century Plan and the standards of a highly selective liberal arts institution. In order to ensure efficient and high-quality application review, the ability to work accurately at a fast pace and to provide comprehensive and relevant summary comments is essential.
Professional Experience/ Qualifications
- Must be available for a scheduled 20-25 hours Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm (EST) and occasional weekend assignments from mid-October through March 31.
- As remote employees, candidates must have their own computer and a stable internet connection.
- Competitive candidates will have strong math skills in addition to organizational and time management skills.
- Collaborative work experience and the ability to work with confidential information are essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Appreciation of the liberal arts philosophy and/or previous volunteer or employment experience in the liberal arts will be considered a plus.
- Knowledge of non-U.S. educational systems and curriculums with experience reviewing international credentials is recommended.
Education
A bachelor's degree is required, along with at least one year of experience with application review.
Other Information
Due to our remote work licenses, applicants must have a permanent residence in New York State or Virginia.
Remote arrangements such as this are reviewed regularly and are based on performance.
