"Part - Time Assistant, Laboratory Support - FY 2026"

The CSN Laboratory Support Division provides quality instruction and support for courses required by limited-entry programs in Health Sciences, Associate of Science Degrees in Biology, and degrees in Physical Sciences. The position is located at either the West Charleston, or Henderson campus. Some Multi-campus travel will be required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology, botany, health science or related field specialization OR six months of professional or academic experience in a research laboratory or laboratory setting;
• Positions currently report to the Laboratory Support Division Manager.

Common tasks include, but are not limited to

• Set-up and break-down of laboratory materials and equipment for instructional laboratories taught in the School of Science, Engineering, and Mathematics.
• Potential handling of live and preserved microbe, plant, and animal specimens.
• Preparation of media, potentially including chemical solutions, and laboratory equipment.
• Using biology and/or chemistry equipment including microscopes, general chemistry laboratory equipment, PCR thermocyclers, and autoclaves, etc....
• Maintaining clean, safe laboratory areas.
• Properly handling, storing, and disposing of hazardous materials including biological laboratory waste.
• Coordinating with the Supervisor, Staff Research Associates, Academic Faculty, and Environmental Health and Safety.

Salary Information

$26.33 per hour, 6-month positions

7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Thursday
