Job Description:

SUNY Broome Community College is seeking a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Part Time Day Care Aide to support the daily operations of our Child Care Center. This appointment is provisional, pending successful completion of the Civil Service testing requirement. The position plays an important role in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children. The Part Time Day Care Aide works under the direct supervision of a Day Care Assistant or other designated supervisor. This position is Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 1:30pm.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Requirements:

• Knowledge of preschool child care practices and techniques.
• Basic understanding of first aid.
• Ability to build positive relationships with young children.
• Ability to maintain order and discipline in a child care setting.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to maintain simple records and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Willingness to work in conditions that may involve noise, odors, or other challenging environments.
• High school diploma or equivalency
• One year of experience working with children in a child care, early childhood development, or children's recreational program; OR
• An equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.

Additional Information:

The hourly rate for this position is $16.50.

Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
