Job Description:
The Department of Film and Media Arts within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks a Part-Time Instructor to teach APH 200/500.3 Non-Silver Processes, a three credit hour course, during the Spring semester 2026.
This course explores the use of the photographic image in new, historic, and/or nonstandard ways. Processes include camera-less techniques, sustainable darkroom practices, image transfers, hand-made images, and digital negatives. Students will also experiment with these processes through photo sculpture, photo installations, performance, copy machine, photobooks, photocollage, and audio/visual art.

Qualifications:
- Candidate must have an MFA degree, with a significant knowledge and study of photography, especially in non-silver analogue processes.
- College-level teaching experience preferred.
Job Specific Qualifications:
- Candidate must be a practicing artist with an understanding of the contemporary practice of art photography, thorough knowledge of analogue non-silver photographic practices and printing, including different non-silver photo chemistry.
Responsibilities:
Candidate must be available to teach a studio course four hours every week during the semester, working from an existing syllabus, with amendments and modifications by the instructor.
Candidate must hold regular office hours, design assignments and grade them in a timely manner, lecture on the art historical foundations and practice of photography over the course of the semester, submit mid-semester progress reports and work well with students and other faculty.
In addition:
- Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
- Meeting all designated class periods.
- If you are unable to meet your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute. You must also notify the department chair of your absence and of your plan to cover the class.
- Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
